The NYPD Middle East & Turkic Society held the “Arab-American Heritage Night Celebration”, Friday, April 28, .2023, in the presence of police officers of Arab descent
For his part, the head of the association, Mts president Capt Hariton Marachilian, explained that the celebration, which was held at I Police Plaza, in New York, witnessed the honoring of many members of the police of Arab origin that extends to the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, noting that the department includes among its members more than 400 members of Arab origin extending to the Middle East.
Hariton said that the celebration included a kind of cultural exchange, where a number of diverse artistic, cultural and musical performances were presented that show the cultures of the Middle Eastern countries.
He also revealed that a number of police members – of Arab origin – active in the community were honored, as a police officer of Egyptian origin, Po Mickel Hanna, who succeeded in thwarting a terrorist who attacked Times Square during last year’s celebrations 2022, was honored.
In addition to honoring the 1st dep Commissioner Edward caban for his overall achievements in the department, where he worked for more than 30 years, during which he provided the necessary support to the administration and his colleagues, Harry also explained that the Community leader Moustafa Elshiekh was also honored, who often contributed to spreading and encouraging Arab-American cultural interaction and highlighting joint Arab and American cultural and civilizational achievements.
Harry also honored Det Mohammed Amen. For his contributions to community service over the past ten years, he has provided much support for the NYPD and has been an intermediary between the East American community and the administration.
In addition to honoring the former Welterweight Champion Sadam Ali, who achieved many accomplishments during his work in the American community.

The ceremony was also attended by Lieutenant Mariana Zakhary NYPD, President of the Coptic Law Enforcement Officers society, and members of the Board of Directors of the Coptic Law Enforcement Officers Association, to show their support for the great effort made by MTS to organize the event and support the honorees, including their member, the American police officer of Egyptian origin, Michael Hanna, who thwarted a terrorist attack in Times Square on New Year’s Eve last year.
